Results from Chicago

Post by Noah M »

Weather was not my friend last week. Most of Chicago and NW Indiana where I was actually staying was either cold, wet, or both!

I was able to escape work and family for one morning, and it happened to be a sunny one. I saw a total of 4 snakes; 1 DOR garter (perhaps a Chicago garter), 1 bullsnake, 1 brown snake, and some other Thamnophis that escaped into some grass before photographing. Here are the two live animals seen.

A special thanks to JBBoiler for all of his help!

Midland Brown - found under the log it is posed on.

Bullsnake - in situ as found

And then it deciding to show me who's boss!!!

Very nice. Spend a few days up there, find a Pituophis, spend a few years down in the south, jack squat - funny how that works

Here's hoping you can find 2-3 types of Pituophis this year!

It was great you were able to see a bull snake. Thanks for posting the photos. Hopefully the weather will be better for your next visit and you can see several more species.
