Tuesday (4/10) in Chittenden County, VT was rainy, 41 degrees, perfect for some amphibian movement! I spent about 2 hours on a stretch of road about 1/3 mile long crossing amphibians as I found them. 14 cars drove by during that time resulting in 24 DOR Spring Peepers, 1 DOR Leopard Frog, 2 DOR Eastern Newts, and 4 DOR Spotted Salamanders.

Also, this is the first time that police have been called due to my road monitoring... the officer who responded knew immediately what I was up to, as volunteers have monitored this site for years and hence his visit was very short... I only hope he didn't run any over on his way out.

Here are some photos of the 80 peepers, 7 Spotted Salamanders, and 1 Jefferson complex that didn't get run over.

Beautiful photos! That peeper looks bloated - do they get that "full of eggs" look like the woodies get?
