Oh come on Danny you find a screamer HIGH yellow newporter (my personal favorite Newporter), and thats the best pic you got..

I dont remember anyone ever showing off a Newporter with that much yellow from LA county before. :thumb:

Nice king, love the as is photos..

Heres a look alike from OC for comparison. Yours has more yellow then this one even..

Wow! Incredible ' Danny! Great post narrative and pics. Awesome finds especially the 2 morphs. Very cool that those are available to be found within city limits. Hoping to come across some sort of aberrancy in the Kings near here.

Wow, amazing day, Danny! Your posts are always epic! 2 Newports in LA in one day is great! :thumb: :thumb:

Fundad, I think yours has a little more yellow, but I'd say Danny's is the nicest "typical" Newport from LA that I've ever seen. Yours is the nicest "typical" from OC I've ever seen. Both are absolutely amazing! They are like the high spotted version of the SD stripers, in the way they have an abnormal amount of yellow pattern on the sides. Here are the best ones I've seen from these counties.

Great job again, Danny! You guys are utilizing what little habitat we have left here in LA to the MAX!

Thanks for the comments, means a lot to me... I remember we both imediately thought it looked just like the one you found.. I agree with Ross, I think yours may have a little more yellow. hard to tell. The neck section has the most yellow on mine. Either way, they are both nice snakes! I'm stoked that your stoked on it!
Darren: Thanks bro, and I too have thought about morphs possibly being up in your area. Lets get some boards out...lol Give you a call soon, we'll get out boa hunting

Ross: Thanks for the comments as always. Some of your finds, were what inspired me to put in the time and effort needed to find these, so thanks again, glad your stoked too!

Stay tuned for a desert post, when its the right time,

-Daniel Lawrence

I call it a forest scorpion, But not sure of the common name or scientific. Have
found them all over coastal California. They come in different colors too. Found a cobalt blue forest scorp in the eastern sierra. Scorpions love the rain...

Thanks guys for the aditional replies! Gonna keep at it! ....got a few stacks of ac to get out late this year. 8-)

That last newporter is ridiculous, it's a good feeling when the hard work pays off.

It's probably "burrowing scorpion" (Anuroctonus), with pale, puffy-looking pincers and a dark body.

Have a look: http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/Other%20Ar ... ctylus.htm

I've found them to be pretty common in bigger patches in the urban basin, places like Mt. Washington and Westchester area.

Great find on the night snake - amazing.
