Cool Little Gopher

So I was cutting tile in a yard, about a block from the Mojave river and spotted this little guy sucking up a drink of water, under my wet saw.

Not sure if his 'checkered' pattern is more a result of being an intergrade (SD/GB) or just a bit aberrant... either way, other than being really thirsty, he was pretty healthy and (IMO) had a really cool pattern. :D jim

Fun find and story Jim. 8-) :thumb: Was thinking the same question. Exceptional symmetry in pattern.

Found one a lot like that in San Diego, high yellow too. Kept it for several years and then a friend of mine lost it. Still miss him. still the only yellow diamond-backed SD gopher I've ever seen:

That's an incredible pattern! I too was thinking possibly aberrant; a beautiful specimen.
