I hope everyone has had a good holiday season!
Socal has been hit quite hard with rain in the past few weeks which has really helped to green the hills and bring out some amphibians and reptiles.
A couple friends and I started off the new year by going to San Diego county looking for striped kingsnakes. Although we struck out on those sadly we found many Southern Pacific rattlesnakes and more than a dozen San Diego Ring-Necked Snakes.

Up closer to me in the San Gabriel Mountains amphibian activity has been plentiful with the recent rains. I have had 2 particularly good outings with many Ensatinas and Arboreals. I tried a new spot yesterday which had incredible scenery and it didn't take long to turn up some finds!

Nice post Jeremy, looks like one of my old stomping grounds, however I never found an Arboreal that awesome. Looks like a nice start to 2017

Thank you! Much appreciated.Speckled Rosy wrote:Nice pictures! Love the salamanders!
Thank you Will! It's near a pretty well known and popular hiking spot but this particular canyon was one we had never been to. All this rain and good spots bode well!Fieldnotes wrote:Nice post Jeremy, looks like one of my old stomping grounds, however I never found an Arboreal that awesome. Looks like a nice start to 2017
