Re: South Carolina Salamander ID Needed
Looks like a South Carolina Slimy Salamander (Plethodon variolatus), Tim, based upon range, limited salamander choices of the coastal region, and "plethodon" look (gestalt).
The few I've seen from that area were extremely variable (hmmm, make a good name!!??!!)
This is, of course, if the 13 species of the "glutinosus" complex haven't been redefined again.

I'm going with Dwarf Salamander as well.

It was about the size of a typical Ohio Redback Salamander - about 3 inches in total length.

yeah (sigh)
I have to agree with Berkely and James.
You'd think , after watching all the politics on TV, I'd be more in tune to slimy low-lifes.

Thanks guys!

I said "dwarf" when I saw it...if it matters at this point.
I have seen two types, but both kinds have the "snow flecks" on them.
