Yes, please don't list Nate. WDFW doesn't allow their people to be listed on civilian forums.

Hi! I'm not sure about putting this here but I just signed up. I'm the president of a little herp. group here in central OR. Most of the members are keepers and not field herpers but I try and get them out when I can. ;)

Here is the link for the group.

http://corherpetology.webs.com/

I would like to be put on the list for OR. My name is Sarah. :)

Cheers!

Hi Sarah, welcome. The group site looks good, though the information about the Northern pacific rattlesnake on the home page is a bit exaggerated... Hope to see some posts from you, or meet you in the field.

Andy - I thought the info was a bit over the top myself but it was cut from an OR herp listings web page (on my links page). I mostly put it up it up so people would know what kind of rattler was local. I'm always so surprised when people think they are all the same kind all over the US. :?

Thanks for the welcome. :) I love herping but have been unable to do much since our son was born. Now that hes getting older I can start to take him out with us. Should be a blast.

BTW I want that snake on your avatar! You'll please forgive me but I'm not sure of the kind of garter that is (that is a garter correct?). I'm new to this part of the US.

No, it's a desert striped whipsnake, and probably the nicest looking one, most would agree... :D congrats on having a son.

You are welcome up here any time, and I'd like to get out there with you some time so give me a head's up next time you're going to be in Washington, or even if you are in like the northern part of Oregon, I'd be willing to make the drive.

My full name is Jonathan Hakim...thanks for including me. :thumb:

Anyone going to be a chapter officer this year? I'd love to help out, but I'll be out of the country most of the year and I'm not yet sure when I'll go back to Oregon. I'd be willing to fill whatever position anyone thinks is a appropriate for someone who hasn't lived in Oregon for 12 years but herps there every year. :?

I am a newbie here, but am definitely a resident of the PNW. Western WA. What is needed to be an "official" chapter member?

FunkyRes,

Not a herp topic, but....I hope in the next few years some wolves make it down to some of the bigger National parks in Cali, like Lassen, Yosemite, Seq.-Kings Canyon. According to historical records, there use to be wolves in the Sierras and Coast range. They can certainly use the protection. One of our packs in WA state got wiped-out by poaching.

On the topic of wolves... I lived in the mountains of sw oregon for a year (last year). I slept outside roughly 90% of that time. I have trained myself to wake up momentarily when I hear an owl, coyote or anything other than a mouse or woodrat. (This helps me keep tabs on these animals behavior patterns, courtship, etc...) Anyway, one night I heard a solo howl that made my eyes bug out... I then listened to a wolf howl on the internet because i had never heard a wolf...dead ringer. Just sayin'...

To be an "official" chapter member, all you have to do is sign up with an account on naherp.com and then ask to be added to the chapter list here.

I really hope the wolves spread too. It's annoying how big a point of contention it is with certain segments of the public though.

Howdy All,

I just joined and would love to be added to the NW Chapter Memberlist. I live in Oregon and go herping whenever I get a chance.

Thanks! :)

Sorry it's been a long time since I've checked in here. I just bought a house (got the keys yesterday) and have a TON of work to do with moving and renovations... Everyone new, get registered on naherp.com and then chime in here again, and I will do what needs to be done when I get a chance, or Josh can take care of it.

PM me your whole name so I can check it on naherp, I will add you and a couple others to the unofficial list at the top in Josh's post.

To those that have PM'd me, I am in the process of getting the eligible names added. There are several members listed in Josh's post at the top that never ACTUALLY got added to the chapter list, and at least one person who is on the ACTUAL chapter list but isn't in the list up above, so please forgive my horrible leadership but I am trying to get it updated. Thanks to all the people who have entered in the data base this year. If you have not entered into the database on naherp.com I couldn't verify you are registered, and therefore, did not put the request in to add you to the members list. Kevin, you were already on the members list, just not the list Josh posted (which is unofficial and was just to see how many NW herpers there are).

Greetings.

I'm a recent transplant from the southeast chapter. I know there are fewer species in these parts, but I'm hoping to get out and find 'em all.

How many members do we have on the updated list? Do we have any chapter events going on in the near future?

Hello everyone. I am new to the Northwest; my family and I just moved to Kennewick, WA from San Diego, CA. I would love to get together with anyone who's interested in herping. I am member of the NAFHA. My username is the same there as it is here.

Thanks for your time and hope to meet some of you in the near future.
