The snakes are crawling!

Post by SnakeDude »

So Technically my first snake of the year was a SoPac in SD, but I found my first one of the year in colorado just a couple weeks ago (just a little wandering garter). I decided it was warm enough for some nice herping the other day, so my friend and I headed out for just about half an hour.

All I was really expecting was a bunch of garter snakes, and thats what we got for the first 5 minutes...

BUT then I flipped a rock I've flipped a million other times (to find nothing) and turned up with two lined snakes. This is the first lined snake Ive found in 5 years, too. it was pretty rad. (the other lined snake was in shed, so she was pretty ugly)

we also turned up a Plains Garter. Three species in half an hour, in 2 days before it snowed?? Not too bad. I just need to turn up a bullsnake soon.

Wow nice finds. I am very jealous. I still haven't found any snakes in Fremont County Colorado.
