Any tips for a southern boy headed west?

Post by noah k. »

3 days until I'm off to attempt herping the west. I'll be staying south of Roswell NM, but anything in between Atlanta and Roswell is possibly fair game. On the drive out my target is a speckled kingsnake, and my goals in NM are atrox, desert kingsnake, and massasauga. I'd really be happy with anything from NM as it would be something new, and this is not a herping oriented trip. Please pm me if you can offer any tips for a greenhorn to the western states, it would be greatly appreciated!

I will likely not have time to meet up with anyone or go more than ~2 hours, so this is purely a request for advice. Also, I need to contact someone who knows NMs herp laws like the back of their hand if possible.

Thanks in advance!
