Sleeping Greater Green

Post by Hans Breuer (twoton) »

Cyclophiops major aka Greater Green Snake is Asia's answer to the American Smooth Green Snake, but much more common and larger (up to three feet), hence the name.

Theoretically, it's a diurnal snake, but like many other diurnals can also be found active all the way until after midnight during summer heatwaves. This one, however, was doing what all field guides say they're supposedly doing at night: sleeping on a bush.

Beautiful animal! And definitely similar to the N. A. green snakes. Good eye to whoever spotted it too. :thumb:

These snakes can also be separated from their North American brethren by their habit of paying double market prices for Taiwanese sleeping twigs while US bush prices drop like a stone. Do not buy from them! Selling to them is okay :thumb:
