I went out to the local woods today for some salamanders and ended up with something a little bigger, after a 30 minute fight.
A few Eastern Red-backed Salamanders (Please, Correct me if I'm wrong. New with salamanders)
And a big Common Snapper
My hands 7 inches
Look at these!
What I had to drag him through
Thanks!
Edited: To correct species

Oh OK. Thanks! I wasn't really sure.

Dang, that snapper looks huge!
Two-lineds will generally be found streamside and are goldish in color. Your redbacks are woodland sals. You probably flipped them under logs or rocks in more of an upland situation (although they can still be flipped next to streams, but usually not in them).

OK, Yeah i flipped some rocks and logs, They are everywhere, I can flip something and find 2 or 3 under one rock!
And yeah the snapper put up a hell of a fight. There are some big ones in there. I sat that swamp for a hour or two and saw one surface after some ducks landed near it that i swear had to be twice that size!

You got all the sallies correct. Don't worry about it, I had the same problem.

That is a huge snapper. I hope you didn't drag it out by the tail.

hockeyrob16... It is against our terms to post locale. It's also the majority's belief that it is good herper etiquette to not ask. If someone posts specific locales, they will be asked to remove them in a timely fashion or myself or one of the other moderators will need to delete the thread. That's the way things are done here and with good reason that you'll learn about if you stick around. Don't take it personally. I've posted locales in the past and have been dealt with in the same way. And now I'm the big shot President.

Hockey, locations are not divulged because poaching of herps has become such a huge problem. Snapping turtles are especially targeted by poachers because their meat can fetch pretty good prices over in Asia. Be polite, ask questions and make yourself known. Good things come to those who wait.
Nice snapper and habitat shots! I personally always like finding redbacks, even if they are common. I find it particularly interesting how many different varieties I tend to come across in one herp outing, their range of colors is astounding to me.
