The herping season here in Hong Kong has kicked into high gear. This past week was very productive in terms of both quantity and variety. I went out 3 times times and found a total of 18 snakes:
2 Bamboo Vipers
5 Bi-coloured Stream Snakes
2 Many-Banded Kraits
4 White-spotted Slug Snakes
1 Common Blind Snake
1 Chinese Cobra
2 Mountain Water Snakes / Olive Keelbacks
1 Burmese Python
Bamboo Viper, White Lip Tree Viper Trimeresurus albolabris 白唇竹葉青 (青竹蛇 )
Many-Banded Krait Bungarus multicinctus multicinctus 銀環蛇
Bicolored Stream Snake Opisthotropis lateralis 側條後稜蛇
Chinese Cobra Naja atra 眼鏡蛇
Mountain Water Snake, Olive Keelback Sinonatrix percarinata percarinata 烏游蛇
Burmese Python Python molurus bivittatus 蟒蛇
I really need to carry around some extra lenses. A 100mm 1:1 Macro lens is not the tool for trying to get shots of a 10'+ python.

A viper, a krait and a cobra, great post!
Re: Hong Kong Herping 2012
What's the story on that first pic? Was it just a yawn and you got lucky to catch it.

Just a yawn. Not a striking shot.

That Burmese Python must have been a rare find at that size? Were you one of the people that Kevin went with last year?? I really need to get down there at some point.

Re: Hong Kong Herping 2012
Very nice!! How big was that one? And how did you get it to lie on its back?
The ones in Sarawak are mostly black and white/cream, btw. Quite weird.

He was about 1.3 meters. The shot of the underside was done when he was dumped out the bag once we got to the spot where we took the photos.
