Since our "baby" seems to be growing at an ever increasing rate, we should probably settle on a name.
Don's frog icon is very cool, and the name HerpWiki is starting to grow on me, but I think the name needs a little more to it.
I'd like to propose we name it The NAFHA HerpWiki
Please post your bids!

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
just out of curiosity... what does 'Wiki' stand for... and what would happen if I tried looking it up in Wikipedia? I won't like melt my computer, or crash the internet, or nothing... right? jim

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
What about, "HerpWiki for the Amphibians and Reptiles of North America"
Just a thought,

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
I personally like how it is now. A short, simple, and explicit title "Herpwiki", with the descriptive subtitle of "A Field Guide to North American Amphibians & Reptiles".
Re: Let's Name This Thing!
I like Matts suggestion. I also like herpwiki, but it should indicate the region and scope of herps it covers.
Re: Let's Name This Thing!
I like Matt's suggestion as well.
HerpWiki is short and sweet and has a nice ring to it.

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
So you want the "By N.A.F.H.A." part removed?

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
I've been so involved with doing some write-ups, I've never paid any attention to the Home Page.
How long has that been there?

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
I think "herpwiki" will make people think of herpeswiki.Matt J wrote:I personally like how it is now. A short, simple, and explicit title "Herpwiki", with the descriptive subtitle of "A Field Guide to North American Amphibians & Reptiles".

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
HerpWiki
An N.A.F.H.A. Field Guide to North American Amphibians and Reptiles
An N.A.F.H.A. Field Guide to North American Amphibians and Reptiles
Re: Let's Name This Thing!
I like HerpWiki, but I say leave the North American stuff out. I think it would be really awesome if someone took the NAFHA database and expanded it to include other countries. In that case the HerpWiki could be the online field guide to herps of the world.

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
That was my dream originally... until I tried to compile a list of all species around the world. I even had a book that was current as of 1997 that included every species of the world, but I think maintaining that list will be a bit of a challenge.chrish wrote:I like HerpWiki, but I say leave the North American stuff out. Speaking of the homepage, when are we gonna "jazz-it-up" a little? There's a lot of blank, gray space.

Re: Let's Name This Thing!
Well, let's start small then, and see where fate takes us. Right now, we hardly have anyone doing write ups for north american species, and I got features to add still, not to mention some features on naherp.com I still want to implement.Well, someone's gotta do it...
