Eastbound and Down

Post by Kyle from Carolina »

Hey there southerners, I don't post in the southeast chapter much as I haven't lived in the south since finding this site but here's a brief introduction: my name is Kyle, I'm from Asheville NC but I'm currently in Canada working with tiger salamanders for my grad studies.

Anyway, I am going back to the great state of North Cackalacky for a wedding in mid-October (11-20) and I'm curious to see if anybody wants to meet up and do a little herping. Having spent most of my time on the western side of the state I'm still a noob in the east and I think it would be fun to herp the area with people who also enjoy herping. I usually go by myself or I bring the gf. I can even pick the spots, although they are not honey holes.

I'm thinking that I will probably hang around the south-easternmost counties but I am entertaining the idea of hitting the famous sandhills, which I've never visited. I will be taking photos only, not into pets.

If anybody wants to meet up, drop me a line.

Here's a picture of a turd snake (Charina bottae) from British Columbia:

Best of luck to you but I'm a bit too far south for this. Also, FYI - your photo did not load for me.

Good luck, I was racking my brain and can't think of anyone I know of on the forum in Asheville, currently. Sorry!
