Re: Arroyo Toad Remains Classified as Endangered
Good Call... Hopefully, this will help in the fight to prevent 20,000 homes being built adjacent to, and around the Toad habtat in Summit Valley... Final public comment meeting this coming Sat at Hesp, High... moved to this venue and date because City Hall couldn't hold all the folks protesting this, last year... I gotta get going on my speech...
I'm tired of standing outside...

Re: Arroyo Toad Remains Classified as Endangered
I was the 1st speaker at the final public comment meeting... NAILED IT... may have been the best 5 min speech I've ever given... the cheers and applause (from a packed, standing-room only, 1000 person auditorium) was deafning. The Arroyo toads were the first of the three topics i touched upon.
what's everyone (or anyone) doing, that might make a difference, besides herping and collecting data?

Much like the near destruction of Arroyo toad habitat, you can't let the BS of the marketing would hide the truth... The truth is hidden right before your eyes, but you have to research to find it your life(r) is awaiting... tell em Tom

Re: Arroyo Toad Remains Classified as Endangered
the toads are by no means safe... the council (city) has to much invested in this to just blow it off. this is just round one... (which has taken near 2 years) if approved... we move to lawsuits.
Re: Arroyo Toad Remains Classified as Endangered
I knew I should have added that, safe "for now" part in there. lol However, I was more partially referring to the protection statis. Although it is no surprise, without it, they wouldn't stand a chance. I know I mentioned it before on the Blainville horn toad race derby post, but again, cheers to the good work you've done there! I'm gonna have to get down south and see one of these little guys. Hopefully I'll have plenty of time to do so...hellihooks wrote:the toads are by no means safe... the council (city) has to much invested in this to just blow it off. this is just round one... Say when... I'll put up up in a 2 bdrm mobile 100 yards from where they're at... ask Lawrence... he's stayed there... jimPorter wrote: I'm gonna have to get down south and see one of these little guys. Hopefully I'll have plenty of time to do so...
That pretty much goes for all my friends...
Re: Arroyo Toad Remains Classified as Endangered
Jim's not kidding, they are right there. Now I need to come when it's not as blazing hot. I'm not up on all the politics of your region but I hope as much of that beautiful habitat can be protected as possible.
Best,

Re: Arroyo Toad Remains Classified as Endangered
i'll send ya my numbers... but truth be told, probably won't be doing much local herping... only 3 things left see, in my county (which is bigger than some states) took me near 10 years to find a WPT, along the Mojave... saw one... don't really need to see/bother another.Brian Hubbs wrote:Helli...I can see again, so PM me your best working ph # so I can get a hold of you when I'm in CA...
what herping I will have time to do, this year... will be going to new places (states) and seeing stuff i haven't seen before. I bore easily...
