2017 California Chapter Nominations Time

Post by Fundad »

Good Evening All,

It is that Time again.

Time for our 2017 Nominations for Chapter Board Members.

Here is the Current 2016 Board.
2016 California Chapter Board Members

Chapter President: Brian Hinds (Fundad)
Chapter Vice-pres: Matthew Gruen (mattg)
Chapter Secretary: Derek Holt (El Garia)
Education Specialist: Jeff Nordland (surfnherp)
Conservation Officer: Lawrence Erickson (Calfirecap)
International Board: John Lauermann (ricrabt)

I will be stepping down as President.

I would like to thank everyone that has helped me and been by my side over the past years. And I would like to thank each and every member that has contributed 10 minutes, along with those of you who have dedicated 1,000's of hours to our causes.

Yours Truly
Brian Hinds
California Chapter President.

Hi All,

Just a friendly reminder without at least a President and VP/IB Board member, the California Chapter will no longer be around, and that includes the chapter forum.

*crickets chirping*

I've only met a few people on this forum in person so I'll stick to the ones I know personally.
We discussed this at the Chapter meeting last June in Kennedy Meadows but didn't get any concrete answers.

Jeff Nordland / Matt Gruen for President / Vice President.

I don't know John Lauermann personally but I'm sure he's worthy of a re-elect for IB Board Member.

Todd Battey education specialist?

At least this would satisfy the minimum to keep this thing rolling. It would be a bummer to see the CA chapter
come to an end.

Thanks for the nomination Mark.

I would be honored to be elected President of the Chapter.

I'll post a link to this important thread on the CA Chapter Facebook page in hopes of attracting more attention.

I think the reason that there hasn't been much response to this post is because there isn't instructions on how to nominate anyone. All we know is the current board members. Can someone explain how this process is supposed to work?

I've been following this thread waiting for instructions on how to nominate and who's available to be nominated.

Hi, Dave. You simply go to whichever or all of the nomination threads and nominate someone. When the nomination receives a second endorsement, the nominated member may accept or decline. Feel free to nominate yourself, too. You'd be an asset to the chapter, Dave!
I'll be stepping down as secretary this year. I'm not able to get around like I used to,herping only 2 or 3 times this year.

I second Jeff's nomination for chapter president.

Aside from Brian (president) and Derek (secretary), are any other board members stepping down? If not, I hereby nominate each of them for reelection.

Thanks,

Robert

I'd also be happy to stay in my position as Conservation Officer.

Like many of you I haven't been active on the forums lately, but the forum is only part of it. We have several survey projects going around the state. Jeff has organized multiple projects down in So. Cal plus last years Cali event, and Todd has continued with the work he started at Tejon Ranch, Dave has his Yolo Bypass project and has arranged for several other outings to what would otherwise be closed areas. I've got the Demo Forest project plus several others in the Santa Cruz Mountains that have been in the works, a few of which will be opening up to the general membership this Spring.

We've also built up a good working relationship with Cal Fish & Wildlife. Just look at the 'Acknowledgments' section of the new California Amphibian and Reptile Species of Special Concern book and you will see familiar names like Brian Hinds, Brian Hubbs, Jeff Lemm and others. NAFHA is even included as a contributor, and Rob Schell's photographs dominate the books images. So with this said, yes NAFHA should absolutely continue. I do like the idea of absorbing Washington and Oregon and creating a West Coast chapter. It will be a little more difficult to manage, and finding middle ground for events more complicated, but worthy. We have lost some of our momentum, but let's not drop out.

I'll second or third any and all of you/those fine gentlemen. Somebody wake up Matt and Todd to see if they accept.

I'd like to nominate Dave Zeldin for CA Chapter Secretary, and Nathan Smith for Education Specialist. Dave expressed interest in helping out more with NAFHA. He would be a great Secretary. I know Nate likes to do educational events since he and I have done a number of them together. I hope he will accept my nomination.

I know it's not necessary, but I third Jeff for Chapter President and Nate for Ed Specialist. I think they are both great guys and would do an excellent job.

I concur with the nominations in the last posts as well as the fine members who are still staying in office. Thanks guys for all of your hard work. I'm not on here much these days due to an insanely busy life over the last few years, but I do see your hard work. Brian Hinds, your contributions have been spectacular, as have those by many other folks - thank you!

Brian has been amazing at keeping this chapter busy and alive. I know he needs a break, but he will be missed as president. Maybe the new blood will further propel this chapter into more awesomeness... :thumb:

I am willing to take a position that is not President, or IB member, or a regional position. I have made a lot of contacts over the years, and don't mind being a part of it if nominated.
