Here is my post from AZ. Pretty standard stuff. I dont have the time or energy to write out a long narrative and besides, you guys know how its mostly done anyway.
If theres any areas you recongnize, dont blurt it out, besides most of the areas I hunt are off the radar for most(all) herpers, roads aside.
It was my best year yet, especially with diversity. Due to boot issues I didnt do any epic backpacking as planned, like previous summers durring my yearly trip to AZ.
Im astounded that almost no one responded to my post to meeting up in Az, but Im very glad to have spent the time with the few that had, Armine, Mike and Francis you guys were awesome and the company was most what Ill remember from the trip.
Animals are from both AZ and NM and sorry Chad, but the obscurus was a NM animal. Shots are mostly in cronological order...
Lets start with a few hid and seeks.....
This was a monster klaub, easily over 30 inches and a very awesome green color...
Here is a shot of both animals, originally found side by side, the smaller female is already a good sized Rock.
Young klaub
3 diffrent Blacktails found the first evening in habitat.
Getting back to the road after a rugged 5 hour hike. Armine had a smile on his face for days after the obscurus adventure, a true Herpers High....
I really hate this place, every time I go...... honestly it no fun walking around up here...
We got off those slopesd and hunted some good pricie habitat.
Mike moving in for the shot.....
Everybody knows I love Diamondbacks, and the color diversity in the Sky Islands is astounding... The atrox were some of my favorite snakes of the trip.
Part two to come........

Great post. I like the double flash technique you use, especially on the Mojave crossing the road. My favorite was the first klaub and how you found it.

I'm a huge fan of your posts and especially the high number of in situ or "find the animal" types pictures...

Me too. Love the in situ/in habitat shots! What are boot issues?
Re: Monsoon Mania!!
Another Hog-nuts post!
Love the habitat/can you see it shots. That large klaub is a beaut.
garters must be beefier out there.

Awesome post, I really enjoy the pics of habitat and herpers in the field. So cool to see snakes out in natural habitat in situ and off the road. Great shots btw.

Awesome stuff, Dave! I have been craving an AZ trip for days. Or Florida. Anywhere but here really.
I really liked your pic of the road descending into the mountains. Made it my screensaver. Thanks!
