I have friends on vacation in West Java and they found this gecko in one of their bags, anyone know what it is?

Looks like Hemidactylus platyurus
Re: Lizard ID from Java
It looks like a common flatail house gecko, adult with a flash light shining on it at night in situ, where house geckos hang out, hunt and crap.
Why would your friends take a gecko that they found in their baggage, release in a building at night and take a photo of it with a flashlight?
Dude just say here's another blurry pic of a herp Im posting for ppl to guess what it is. Can the fake premises.

Uh - possibly Kelly you're making assumptions? Filling in gaps in a very brief second-hand story, with what might be defective mortar? Why would your friends take a gecko that they found in their baggage, release in a building at night and take a photo of it with a flashlight?

Would it be possible for example, for a foraging house gecko to be frightened away from some luggage on the floor, run up the wall, and be crappily photo'd with a cell phone? Maybe it wasn't literally "in" the luggage, but - say - on it or behind it?
Why jump straight to "fake premises" and call someone a liar? That seems a bit aggressive or mean-spirited.
Just a friendly observation.
cheers

Yeah ok, i didnt mean it to come out so harsh. Maybe lots of people send him pics to ID or maybe its a better game with some small backstory.
I realize there is forum etiquette though it is not evenly distributed throughout the forum.
Many people (Not You Jimi, you always project a secure, cool grace) but many here cannot grant a simple thank you for energy and genuine enthusiasm spent on their behalf.
Or even acknowledge a sincere compliment.
Maybe it came out on this and if it did, Im sorry.

What? Why would I make something up like that? Why do you have such little faith in people? Here is the exact quote from a face book post, "So this little guy got trapped in one of our bags of food, and scared Jen when she she grabbed something from the bag. I got a text that our insurance premium just went down..."
I don't understand why you would jump to this conclusion.

Re: Lizard ID from Java
Yeah, saw that after I posted it.
Re: Lizard ID from Java
At least to me it looks like a gecko from the genus Gehyra.
Gehyra mutilata maybe.

unfamiliar with that species but looking at the keys, the broadness, and the way the nails are described I think Geckotan is on to something.
