I spent about a week herping and chilling in Mentawai Islands, Sumatra a couple of weeks ago. Managed to find the green pitvipers but not Trimeresurus brongersmai.
The compulsory pitviper profile shot I think this species is being described as we speak, but I am not entirely sure. Some say it's Trimeresurus gunaleni but that's a highland species, and this one is found at the lowland.
Cute little Cat Snake. At first I thought it's a Boiga nigriceps, but the super big eyes, long and slender body sugggest that it's more like a B. drapiezii. Never seen a B. drapiezii like this though. Thoughts?
The ever cute Blunt-head Snail-eating Snake (Aplopeltura boa)
One of the loveliest frogs on the islands. Pulchrana siberu
A rather dull looking Malacca Frog (Phrynella pulchra).
Owlet Moth, Erebus ephesperis?
Pitviper (Trimeresurus sp.), Mentawai Islands, Sumatra. This was the first and the biggest of all three we found. No DSLR photos of the other (much) smaller two.
Aplopeltura boa
Boiga drapiezii ?
It tried to bite but couldn't even puncture the skin! No, I don't have thick skin
Pulchrana siberu. They were fairly common there.
Stream and waterfall where the Trimeresurus sp. pitvipers were found.
