Help with ID - Namibia Lizards

Post by Antee »

Need some help with ID this Lizards/Geckos from Namibia.

First one found in Damarland.

Second one in a very barren landscape close to Skeleton coast.

Both in northwest of the country.

The top lizard is one of the Sand Lizards in the genus, Pedioplanus (probably P. undata) and the gecko is one of the Day Geckos in the genus, Rhoptropus, possibly a Namib Day Gecko, Rhoptropus afer. It helps to have the gecko in hand to see the subtle differences in the toes, however one of the experts in Namibian herps will no doubt be able to identify exactly which species it is based on geographic range.
