His dream reminded me of Jordan Peterson-style intepretation of archetypical representations like the "Dragon of chaos." Willful blindness (teachers and kids ignoring the serpent/dragon or misunderstanding its destructive nature) ruins societies, whether it's willful blindness toward an internal problem, foreign aggressor, whatever, just looking away and continuing with the status quo is always more painless in the short run. But in the long run, willfull blindness lets the "dragon of chaos" prevail every time.

As a Christian myself, he's got a point that it's very unwise to "play with serpents" when he means Satan and sin more generally, and even more unwise to let your family or society be pathologized by evil, but I take offense that because I play with literal snakes, this guy thinks that's somehow cavorting with the Devil. That's the non sequitur of the month right there.

Yeah, my first impression was… Hmmm 🤔 This guy seems to be 追龙 🐉

Lol I agree. I get the metaphoric element of what he’s saying. I even agree with it to a certain extent. I was boreding through my YouTube channel vids, on my TV, and his video popped up as a suggestion. So I went ahead and watched it and was immediately fascinated by the literal tone he starts off with. I tend to approach life with a standup comedians mentality. So, I couldn’t help myself from exploring the humor in analyzing his speech from a literal point of view 🤔😂 ..From the standpoint of a field Herper helping to identify the species

I like what he has to say about the importance order and chaos 👍🏻

It may in fact be the other way around Kelly 😂 I kinda sorta dated a girl for about eight months who told me all about Tumblr. Apparently, it was used for amateur porn before some lawsuit passed that removed the vids. As far as I know, TickTock doesn’t allow nudity.

As far as the decent content goes, I think you’re right. There’s definitely a metamorphosis there lol I don’t know much about either one of them

Is it true what he’s saying about surfing and what the Hawaiians believed? I never heard of the guy until Jefferson mentioned him and his comment. So I googled, “order and chaos Jordan Peterson” and only watched that one video. I’m a long time Jimi Hendrix fan. what he said about order and chaos in the video I posted, reminded me of Hendrix guitar playing and jam sessions. He seem to always be balancing on that line and It was a reflection more or less of life and humanity. It also reminded me of skateboarding a little bit. The only surfing 🏄‍♀️ I’ve ever done is on the tube 📺 but skateboarding I think is similar in the fact that when you throw a flip trick out but you’re able to keep control of it, it’s similar to that balance between order and chaos. The process of learning the tricks. A 360 flip is kind of wild and crazy, but once you learn the artistic flow of it and understand how to do it, you taking chaos and put it in order... Kinda sorta lol

You know Porter; you dont take an authentic compliment real well.

Unless its from some older man, however the thing is you are kind of; could we say ; dimensional and this forum does promote a rather dry line when it comes to expression.

This isnt what I have experienced with Scientists - no not new ones - older ones, secure, adventurous, astute to the vibrant, electric line between opinion and truth.

Underestimating features, clues, nuances, conditions, isn't something you would do whilst herping, yet you do in this format and its a shame as you have talent only constricted by your own fears and beliefs.

I have attracted intelligent women, who are slim, feminine, and powerful. Im little tomboy who doesnt even have a ----. But Ive never wanted for femnine, intellectual (more so brightly diversely than my ad hock self) female company.

Its like you cant see how the women you wish to attract - percieve interacting with others at all.

I appreciate your talents but you get in the way of them. Women see it it.

It’s a joke… it’s not about you. It’s just a sweet witty joke. Try to imagine somebody saying it, instead of writing it... “pi-pie.” It’s a twist on how they both sound the same when spoken. That’s the punchline. It’s an imaginary scenario, Like how a standup comedian would say something. The girl thinks/see’s life from left side of her brain. I.e. calculus… The guy is thinks/see’s Life from the right side of his brain. I.e geometry… The girl turns the guy down because she doesn’t understand his point of view, so the guy tries to tell her it’s just because we’re not seeing eye to eye. He’s suggesting that he and the girl go and have A conversation over a piece of pie...like go on a date and get to know each other, before she prejudges him based on just a couple of messages over the Internet. The joke is based around math because pi-pie is the punchline. pi sounds like pie when it’s spoken. Pi Is considered to be an irrational number... A number that has no end. A number that doesn’t add up. The girl is assuming that her taking a chance with a guy who doesn’t think like her, simply doesn’t, “add up. “ It’s a charming punchline. It’s intended to be like something scripted for a movie. there’s no direct relation to the silly octopus theory. The octopus theory is meant to be entertaining and thought provoking at best. It’s not something I’m taking very seriously. It was just something I chased down the rabbit hole for a couple hours to keep myself awake at work.

It has nothing to do with you and shouldn’t be taken serious.

I’ve got a bad habit of responding to forum comments to 3000 people reading them, because their public… Even when I write to a person who has commented directly, I’m aware of the reality that I’m writing to other viewers, not just the person I’m responding to...These aren’t private messages. I’m sorry you take some of the things that I write personal or in a negative way… Honestly I’m not thinking of you when I write them. I’m always hoping to attract some field Herper girl out there who I’ve never met… and hopefully get a private message or a comment from her…Get her attention in some way. Im an Old fashion hopeless romantic like that 🤷🏻‍♂️ so if it seems like I’m writing things that are intended for a woman’s eyes, that’s the reason

So when the guy in the joke says “ What we both need to consider is pi-pie” he means two things simultaneously:

1) that he and the girl should go on a date and talk before judging each other through written messages that lack vocal tone and easily confused.

2) That like pi, Life doesn’t always add up and that she should give him a chance even though her initial impression is that he is not the right guy for her because they have different opinions and viewpoints on life

...What ties the whole thing together is:

He’s a right minded thinking guy… Which is why he’s the character who thinks in geometry/art… Suggesting that he is the “right “guy for her.

She thinks with her left side of her brain… Calculus/math. Which is why she Is the character who would rather be “left”alone

He (and his fans) often aim to set themselves up against the worst alternative to look good by comparison. I've found plenty of times that I agree with Peterson, but they tend to me on the more mundane everyday stuff. When it gets to the bigger picture issues I have found him quite disturbing and unfortunately often ill-informed.

He came to prominence by dramatically opposing a Canadian law regarding hate crimes - the effects he claimed the law would have (make it illegal to call someone by anything other than their preferred pronouns) were simply not in the law at all. Either he was badly misinterpreting it or he was lying. He goes on and on about how "cultural marxism" is destroying society, but badly misinterprets what "cultural marxism" is and constantly applies it to things that have nothing to do with it at all. (It's easier to just dismiss people by saying, "They're promoting Marxism!" than to actually engage regular Black folk who feel discriminated against.) Many of his statements on race and gender are absolutely cringeworthy and ill-informed. He's latched onto some of the anti-science side of the political right, casting doubt on climate change and promoting some really wacky nutrition and drug beliefs (he pushes an all-beef diet, literally claims to eat nothing but beef and water and occasionally alcoholic drinks. Oh, and he refuses to take vitamins because they violate his beef-and-water diet yet is addicted to benzodiazepines).

Ugh, I've gotta start a new paragraph. So he reaches terrible conclusions on morality based on evolution, such as claiming that because lobsters have societal dominance structures, it's wired into our evolution and thus we're wrong to fight against it and instead should just embrace the fight to dominate others. He horribly misinterprets the Pareto Principle, using it to justify absolutely any income inequality (or any other inequality) no matter how severe. He's obsessed with IQ and repeatedly makes claims about it that are not warranted or supported by evidence. He's claimed that women not putting out for undesirable men is a root of male violence and thinks better enforced monogamy is the solution because too few guys are getting to have sex with too many women and not leaving enough for the rest. He claims that he went a month without sleep do to an allergic reaction to a sip of apple cider, which created an anxiety reaction that he still suffers form today....yet he insists that it's an "extreme food allergy" that is responsible for this and not his obvious psychological disorders around food.

I think Nathan Robinson makes a pretty brutal takedown of him here: https://www.currentaffairs.org/2018/03/ ... we-deserve

Not to mention the environmental impact of promoting all-beef diet is pretty terrible. His daughter is basically a full-time "All Beef Activist".

He's an intelligent, charismatic guy so he can sound reasonable in one sphere and then is a complete idiot in other spheres.

Still, after listening and reading more of his materials Im glad to separate anyones personality, politics or quirks from what there is to learn from their insight.

Sometimes passion can melt the edges of a focus which is forgivable, maybe even achieving higher resolution when re examined with humility. Like, the humility to amend or modify a view openly.

I dont know if it really applies here just sayin.

Edit add; if after a time of say, his exploration / phase with the beef diet thing eg, he interrogated it to an analysis of good merit.

He seems capable of that and i guess im refreshed by it because i dont see that much in 'public' thinkers.

I wonder if some of the items such as the enforced monogamy and others were stated as hypotheticals?

And that even if distastful concepts to hear spoken, there may be some truth in them but he would concede that it isnt something to be realistically or morally condoned, but really some men might be happier people if that was the case.

Its pretty quiet presently at work so im trying to find the actual lecture. I dont form views from journalists opinion pieces.

You know the ones that 'use these' alot in their articles.

Dead give away on cherry picking and coralling perspectives when alot of 'these' are scattered through the text.

Nathan Robinson. Hmm.

Slow again here. I read the piece. Im nowhere near as smart as Nathan Robinson so i can only speak from the animalia sense i got of him seeing Jodan Peterson as a threat.

The High Motivation in his treatment has an obsessional feel.

Like he could put anyones stuff through his personal nuclear reactor of contention and it would come out fried like that.
