Howdy...new member, just joined a week ago.
I noticed that there is only 11 on the Rocky Mtn. Chapter List, but 16 here on this strand. Somebody needs to get signed up as a Chapter member. Don't miss out on those member benefits...

Hi there just joined. Yes Texas is that far away! I drove it four times this last year from Salt Lake City to San Antonio area for venomous reptile training and crocodilian training. Talk about sore butt from a looong roadtrip.cayrip wrote:Cameron Young

I think this year I'm gonna focus on more of the southeast portions of the state, just an FYI. Northeast of Denver looks like it is gonna be a bad year, thus far.

I work as a reporter, and hobbies include field herping, usually for Crotalus species, but I am happy to see anything herp related, and enjoy all wildlife (especially predators). I also keep tarantulas as a hobby, and recently, have grown an interest in survivalism. I have also served in the past as a volunteer firefighter, and will be joining the local department here in the near future.
I have two sons I am raising to hopefully share these interests. I don't know many people locally who are into field herping, so that can make going out with someone a challenge. I do go alone, but I prefer to go with someone. The areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan where I herp are sparsely populated, often without cell service and typically at least an hour away from any hospital. But, our C. viridis populations are dense where they are found, and it's not uncommon to find 10 or more in a good night of road hunting. I also travel to Arizona when I can and just returned from a trip there this August.
I am more than willing to take anyone interested herping, and I work from home and therefore, have a very flexible schedule. I can also find bull snakes and western hognose in the same areas where I herp, as well as black widows, scorpions, burrowing owls and kangaroo rats. All seem to share a similar range and the topography is incredible! Who knew Canada is home to rattlesnakes and cacti galore?
Looking forward to meeting y'all one day. I have herped Montana as well, and hope to again in the next month or so.
Happy herping!
