Black Adder

Post by JaySteel »

Hi everyone. I thought I'd share a couple of shots that I took last weekend of a Black Adder. I've only seen a few of these in the wild and I was thrilled to capture these shots of this beautiful snake.

Best regards,
Jason

I found a couple of toads in the car park at work today so I thought I'd share them with you all:

Nice specimens and shots. It would be nice to see a dorsal view of the adder. Do you ever see completely melanistic adders around there (i.e. ones with black supralabials)?

Thanks. I've never seen a totally black one before up close. Last year I did see a very dark example where the zig-zag markings were almost invisible and I didn't see any white on the side of its head either. Unfortunately I was about 12ft away when it slithered off so I could easily be mistaken as I only saw it from above.

Best regards,
Jason

Nice adder! :thumb:
I've never seen a melanistic specimen which had white color on it, they were just shinning black. :)

Very nice adder. Like Mourits I've only seen completely melanistic ones so far. Cool pics!
