ID help for some fish from Green Island, Cairns AUS

Post by Berkeley Boone »

Anyone have any ideas as to what these fish are? I've done a fair amount of searching, but have not come up with anything concrete. I am hoping you all can offer species ID or some tips for places to look.

These two may be some sort of a juvenile Angel fish,

The closest I have come with these is the Castelnau's Wrasse, but there are only like 2 records from the Cairns area. They are mostly a south-coast fish. But I would love for this to be a Castelnau's....

Hey Berkeley, you might find this useful:

It works reasonably well in the Sydney area at least, not sure about up north.

Thanks, Van. I took a quick look through it and like the feel of it. I'll see what I can come up with this weekend. Thanks for the link.

I'll probably be sending you an email soon too with some gecko questions.
