3 Big Bugs

Post by Noah M »

Found the first one looking around cabbage palms for snakes in Florida. It looked like somebody had chopped the top of the tree clean off, and crawling around on the open top of the palm stump were 2 of these.

This next one was from near a spring in Lafayette County, Florida. I'm not sure of the ID, but I would guess Golden Buprestid (Cypriacis aurulenta), or something similar. Anybody know what this is?

The last one was also from around the same spring, though more in the nearby woods.
I know it at the Triceratops Beetle (Phileurus truncatus)

Thanks. I'm going to go with Chalcophora georgiana. Chalcophora virginiensis looks too dark.
