Tiger Beetle?

Post by Noah M »

Found in xeric habitat in North Central Florida

Cicindela sexguttata?

Photographed more or less in situ. My hiking may have disturbed it, but after this one and only photograph, it flew away. The sugar sand and deer moss give you an idea of the habitat.

Noah, did you catch the color of the mandibles and the other moth parts? Were there white spots at the end of the elytra?

Because of the time of year, it's probably Cicindela scutellaris unicolor.

What you see is what I saw. There was the beetle so I pointed the camera and started firing away.

Thanks for the info; it seems like a match!

There are so many photographs worth bumping in the bug section.

All the beetle ones definitely. Such a great group.
