Planning ahead in hopes that I can afford it when the time comes, does anyone have experience/tips to share concerning herping in Oklahoma, starting with if late April or any time through May is an okay time to look around (or if the tornadoes are just too frequent)?
If things fall in place I'd like to start in the northwest area (not quite panhandle, bit further east) to find species that I just haven't been able to tag elsewhere in the plains (hognoses, Emory's rats, ground snakes etc.) and head from there toward Oklahoma City or Tulsa, then east and south along the border before looping back west and north (for vipers, earth and worm snakes, etc.). Already working on the hunter's ed course so I can pick up a license and avoid legalities in that sense.

I do not have much experience with OK but May should be a good time of year.
