Somewhat attractive Akansas beetle

One of the most attractive buprestids in the United States. Took me a while to get a picture of one as they tend to fly off at the speed of light. Managed to capture and chill this one.

Buprestis rufipes.

Ya need to put a sparrow next to it for size comparison.
Y'all got some mighty big bugs in the Razorback state... :D

I don't know about big but there are enough mosquitoes and chiggers so you can't tell the difference.
