Small Tallahassee post

Post by Xabier Zarate »

This winter break I went to Tallahassee. Though I did not see a lot of stuff because of the freeze and I stayed around home most of the time I thought I should just post something.
I did take a trip to a small ravine area that had a southern cricket frog

as well as a greenhouse frog

There was a small anole I found in a rotted-down log

I swear I saw a small three-lined salamander that was under some leaf litter that had been sent flying after I fell off a wet log. The only problem was the salamander went wild and burrowed into the ground.

Around the house, after the temperatures got into the 70s lizards and frogs became active like this small ground skink that had lost its tail

Of course, many green anoles were out

There was this green tree frog sitting in my hot tub

At night while looking at a green tree frog I saw a small Gray rat snake slithering in the bushes

The rat snake kept moving and squirming around so I was not able to get the best shots.

Sorry about the photo quality and I don't know why all the deleted images are piling up on the bottom but I hope it's not too bad :D .

Probably a little warmer there than straight west in Baton Rouge - I didn't even try.
Your first two frogs are a Greenhouse Frog followed by a Southern Cricket Frog, so two species, not one.

Thanks for the identifications. Still trying to get better at identifying Florida herps.
